The Museum seems to pride itself on having a collection that represents a large span of Spanish art history. The article reminds me of the articles we read in class about Egyptian and Assyrian art and how the museum owners and collectors seem proud of the art as a symbol of intellect and wealth.
ReplyDeleteThis museum obviously has a good collection of art. I particularly like this picture because the focus of art is very leveled. I like how they included more than one form of art. It is very interesting. I like how you connected the museum's intention with what we've been learning in class. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteLike "erky" said, I like how this relates to the vintage article on ancient Egyptian art because of how the museum seems to care most about the presentation of the works and how their importance makes the museum itself look better. It is interesting to consider how important presentation is in art though; a nice arrangement can be an important factor in the affectiveness and appeal of the art. It can even cause the viewer to find different meanings in the works because of how they are fixed in relation to neighboring artwork.
